Snoop Dogg purchased the Death Row Records record label in February 2010. He also announced plans to transform the Death Row Records hip hop label into an NFT label. To the anger of his fans, and with the support from peers, Snoop removed Death Row Records records from streaming platforms. This is all part of the ongoing struggle to control content.
Death Row will become an NFT record label. Our artists will go through the metaverse, and a new chain of music. “Just like when we broke the music industry as the first independent label to become major,” Snoop stated via the clubhouse audio app.

Although it had been believed at first that Dr. Dre’s classic 1992 album The Chron would be removed, Howard King, the lawyer for Dre, has contradicted this claim in a statement to Rolling Stone.
King stated that there are “false reports” about Death Row’s ownership. “Dr. Dre has 100% ownership of The Chron.
Snoop confirmed in the same report that he was working with Death Row’s estate to collaborate on Tupac Shakur, the third star of Death Row.
Snoop stated that 2Pac’s masters returned to him last year. But I had a wonderful relationship with his estate and I am confident that we will be able work something out now that Snoop Dogg has taken control of Death Row.
They are now not part of Death Row’s catalog. However, 2Pac’s 1996 Death Row albums All Eyez on Me (and The Don Killuminati) can still be streamed via streaming services.
The reactions of fans to this removal ranged from mildly annoyed to profuse to mildly outraged that they had to go back to an older technology to hear Snoop’s music.
