Spending time outdoors is the best thing. Camping, hiking, climbing — all of it is possible to spend hours or even days in the great outdoors. The wilderness can be both relaxing and addictive. You can’t travel all the time unless your goal is to be a park ranger, professional hermit or other similar position.

You can still get some of the wild beauty if you are stuck indoors. We’ll be looking at six movies about hiking that any hiker will enjoy. Unless you become more annoyed than ever by living through the on-screen adventure, then it is not worth your time. You need to go outside if that happens.

This movie is an excellent choice if you are looking for a film that shows hiking as it really is, not as Hollywood portrays it. Although it doesn’t feature any A-listers and has a modest budget, this 2005 indie movie is still entertaining, funny, and compelling. This film tells the story about a woman who set out alone to hike the Appalachian Trail in search for answers. But she finds friends along the way and is able to ask new questions. Although it isn’t the most accurate summary, it is still very true.

You might be wondering if you’d enjoy hiking hundreds of miles through Siberian wilderness, and in Soviet prison camps. Then watch the film the Way Back. These things will not be for you. Based on the gripping story of Slawomir Rawicz, a Polishman. Later, it was discovered that Rawicz exaggerated the stories he had told to his biographer. While Rawicz was held in Soviet Gulags during WWII, he didn’t escape and did not trek from India to Russia. The movie remains gripping and exciting. It is also quite violent at times. The movie shows the harshness of nature, but also highlights humanity’s indomitable spirit.
